Hello my name is
John Beavis. I have lived in the village of Brinkworth in rural Wiltshire all my
life and have grown up with traditional crafts all round me. After receiving
some initial training from Hector Cole (FWCB) I embarked on a journey of history
and discovery in the craft of the Traditional Blacksmith.
Here at Olivemead Forge in the Dauntsey Vale Wiltshire I strive to keep the true tradition of the Blacksmith craft alive. Using tools that I have made to the same designs of Blacksmiths of years gone by. Joining metal using rivets, tenons, screws, collars and fire welding (an art in its self). Of course not to mention my bellows, hand pumped to keep the coals burning and my metal hot.
Most
of my work is by private commission, local authority and the National Trust to
name but two. I work hard to produce work to the highest of standards using
traditional tools and techniques. In recognition of my work I have been awarded
by the “Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths Certificate of
Competence in 2007 “&
Certificate of Merit in 2009
” My web site shows a fraction of what I have
made. I can offer you a personal design and advice service if you want that
something special or just a general enquiry simply contact me using
the contact
link on the left. Alternatively you can leave a message on my mobile and I’ll
return your call at my earliest convenience, tel;
07795 433993.
